Conversation

Have you ever blurted out the wrong words at the wrong time?  Mortified, you wish you could push rewind and start again-but unfortunately, the words are irretrievable.  The scriptures tell us to keep watch over our tongue, and for good reason.  Words have the power to create strife or peace; to uplift or destroy; to bless or to curse.  The old adage claims "words will never hurt me."  That, however is untrue.  Wrong words do hurt, but the right words spoken at the right time have the power to heal and comfort.  Words count-so count your words!

Don't make rash promises and don't be hasty in bringing matters before God.  After all, God is in heave, and you are here on earth.  So let your words be few.  Ecclesiastes 5:2 (NLT)

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.  Proverbs 15:1 (NIV)

Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.  Colossians 4:6 (NASB)

A time to tear and a time to mend.  A time to be quiet and a time to speak.  Ecclesiastes 3:7 (NLT)

Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.  Mother Teresa
