Most women are doers, proficient in multitasking. We cook dinner as we do laundry and assist our kids with homework. We schedule appointments via cell phone while we grocery shop. We answer emails while paying bills. And the moment we stop, our minds spin as we relive the day.
Although rest is essential to our spiritual, physical, and emotional health. It oftens gets lost like a stray sock in the dryer. God wants His people to rest, and this section of scriptures emphasizes the benefits of and need for a break.
So take a breather. Rest.
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep; for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8
For He has said somewhere concerning the seventh day "An God rested on the seventh day from all His works"...So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. Heb: 4:4,9
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him. fret not thyself because of him who prosperous in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass. Psalm 37:7
The one who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1
An you would be secure, because there is hope, yes, you would dig around you, and take your rest in safety. Job 11:18
