Faith the Emotional Balancer

No man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident; for, The just shall live by faith  Galatians 3:11

Our moods often dictate our actions.  For instance, we schedule lunch with a friend for Saturday afternoon, but on Saturday morning we regret having made plans.  Or we strategize wht to accomplish on our day off but suffer from mental anemia and physical fatigue when the day arrives.  So we fail to do what we had intended to do in a more enthusiastic moment.

Emotions mislead us.  One day shines with promise as we bounce out of bed in song, while the next day dims tin despair and we'd prefer to hide under the bedcovers.  One moment we forgive, the next we harbor resentment.

The emotional roller coaster thrusts us into mood changes and affects what we do, what we say, and the attitudes that deine us.

It has been said that faith is the bird that feels the light and sings to greet the dawn while it is still dark.  The Bible insturcts us to live by faith--not by feelings.  Faith assures us that daylight will dawn in our darkest moments, affirming God's presence so that even when we fail to pray and positive feelings fade, our moods surrender to song.

Heavenly Father, I desire for my faith, not my emotions,
to dicate my life.  I pray for balance
in my hide-under-the-cover days, so that I
might surrender to You in song.  Amen
