On a day like today with the rain falling down and thunder booming in the sky I couldn't help but want to share a childhood memory with you.
Rumble tumble and roll
loud and striking
quick
boom and startling
Thunder. When I was little those would be some of the words I would use to describe what I heard. I actually enjoyed the tumble, rumble roll. It wasn't as scary sounding as the other noises that would boom loudly out of the dark gray wet sky. In fact I found great comfort when I would hear the rolling thunder above me. It brings a smile to my face every time I hear it, I think of being small and on my Papa's lap, comforted in his warm arms holding me close. He would tell me that there was nothing to be afraid of, that it was just a basket of potatoes that got knocked over in heaven and the potaotes are rolling all over the place.
I think what comforted me the most was knowing that above me was a great unknown kindness looking down on me, loving me and protecting me, making His presence known but comforting me at the same time, expressing "I am here"
All this to say this is just a beautiful example of how a sweet memory can resenate in a child's heart and have an impression of knowing God's Promises. Now as an adult I know His promies and I enjoy my sweet memory of my Papa. ---Katrina
