A Circle of Rest

Drop thy still dews of quietness till all our striving cease.....
John Greenleaf Whittier

Teach me, Lord!
I know I need to learn a lesson
of restraint,
of priorities,
or I would never be this tired.
But teach me, Father
not from the distance of heaven
nor from behind a pulpit or podium,
but from within your embrace.
Teach me your tender love and leading
as I rest on your
might shoulder,
then whisper to me
what I keep forgetting....
I must rest within your arms
constanly
to rest within your will.
Susan Lenzkes

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him (Psalm 62:5)

Come to me, all who are weary and burndend, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your sould.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.  (Matthew 11:28-30)
