No one wants to think
he's got it wrong---
that all the patches
went on backwards,
all the layers,
upside down.
It's harder
when you're sitting
in the middle,
trying to smooth the
pieces, fit it all
together,
Make it come out even
at the edges.
Somehow the grand design
gets lost,
and you end up sewing
anything that meets.
Judith Deem Dupree (Going Home)
Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place. Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. (Psalm 51:6-7)
If you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright....Then you will understand what is right and just and fair--every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. (Proverbs 2:3-7, 9-11)
